OUR COLLECTION

Vintage tackle, fishing history & the pieces we had to have.

Vintage Bobbers in a Rustic Glass Jar.png

Not everything we find ends up for sale. Our personal collection includes vintage Florida tackle, old fishing displays, advertising pieces and other pieces of fishing history that caught our attention along the way. This vintage minnow jar, filled with an assortment of old wooden fishing floats and bobbers, came home with us from the 2026 FACTA auction in Orlando. It’s exactly the kind of find we love, well-used, full of character and part of fishing’s past.

Handmade Sanford, Florida Lures — Edward J. Lachtara

Screenshot 2026-10-04 184840.png

These handmade fishing lures were created by Edward J. Lachtara of Sanford, Florida, who made lures for more than 35 years. A U.S. Navy veteran of World War II and Korea, Lachtara later returned to Sanford, where he and his wife, Ida Mae, operated Eddie’s Bakery on First Street.

According to the history preserved with the collection, Lachtara made many different styles of fishing lures, testing them himself and giving some to friends. After his death in 2019, hundreds of lures, parts and lure-making items remained at his estate.

These lures and the wooden box belonged to Lachtara and were found together in his home. They were purchased together at his estate sale, preserving a direct connection between the handmade lures, their maker and the box in which he kept them.

NSB Stellar acquired the group at the 2025 FACTA auction. We later found the wood-and-glass display case at the 2026 FACTA convention to showcase a selection of the lures while keeping Lachtara’s original wooden box—and its history—with the collection.
